Chris says that changing your "real beliefs" is no big deal and is done many times.

I just discovered new proof that Chris is right.

In the "World Book of Records" it states that in 1951 a Russian by the name of Boris Schovikowsky changed his firmly held, deeply committed, profoundly arrived at, absolutely sincere and real beliefs 2157 times during the course of a 12 hour period. This record has stood for over 50 years.

It is rumored that the KGB was present at the end of this feat of mental gymnastics to make sure that his final change was back to the politically correct ones.

P.S. This just out. Sleep researchers have discovered that you can even change your deeply held beliefs while asleep, which is regarded as one of the most significant advances ever in this area.

Chris is so right.

I used to be a bit of a skeptic, but now I believe that the Bible is the literal Word of God, and to quote the sign in front of a local church: "Dusty Bibles lead to dirty lives"

Please send me your largest contribution and I will pray for you.

“In the real world a person cannot change his real beliefs any more than he can change the color of his skin.”

I think what Bob meant by changing "real beliefs" as in when a Catholic suddenly "converts" cause he wants to marry some Baptist chick. Or when Dick Morris has some kind of "epiphany" and ditches the Clintons to become Bill O'Reilly's best friend. Or how Sen. Byrd can go from Klansmen to pinko.
Sure, someone who is ignorant, confused, or has alterior motives (like selling a book or getting reelected) can change their beliefs all the time. But then again, those were never "real beliefs" in the first place, were they?

Quote:

Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa Haa

I'm not sure what "real world" you live in, but changing "real beliefs" happens everyday all over the world. You have done it yourself. If you mean a real belief there will be day and night tomorrow and the next day and the next (outside of an unexpected death) then yes. Beliefs beyond type and any you mention the are all too changeable. And comparing them to skin? It makes me laugh again reading it. Stick to politics.
