“Gag” Orders

Posted by Bob on April 5th, 2005 under Comment Responses

Mark asked me what I meant about people not being able to discuss court orders.

I was referring to “gag orders,” which so far have only been applied to the peoples’ representatives or principles in the case. However, the courts gave themselves the right to issue gag orders against public officials.

Certainly the courts could gag all Hate Speech the way European countries do. They could go on from there.

Do you think the ACLU would SERIOUSLY fight that? Do you think Bush would refuse to enforce it? He would lose the Hispanic vote.

They can give themselves the right to gag anybody. In busing cases, these gag orders were ever more widely extended.

The courts have given themselves the power to tax. Remember, “No Taxation Without Representation?” Courts have regularly ordered taxes to support minority housing and for school integration.

Five members of the United States Supreme Court could gag every American. Since they ARE the Constitution, who would you appeal to?
