Antonio,

I think that I have two enormous contributions to make.

The first is the Bob Problem:

“It doesn’t WORK.”

The second, of which the Bob Problem is a subset, is a gift for seeing things that are so obvious one misses them.

I said,

“This is not a practical matter right now. I suppose that when it comes to the speed of light we are about where Ben Franklin was in the matter of electricity. He tried and tried to think of some way electricity might actually be practical, but finally stated flatly that he couldn’t even imagine one.”

But you and I are sitting here talking over a world-wide net based on electricity and we can turn on TV and grab images out of the wir.

But the subject we are discussing is whether we can ever use gravity. We can’t even understand it now, so how can we ever USE it?

Which leads us to the Practical Man Disease. Being obsessed with the Latest Thing in physics or history or anything else allows one to get published in Futurology books. But it also makes one wrong about the future.
