Talking Heads
In his very laudatory Foreword to Why Johnny Can’t Think Joe Sobran said you couldn’t even really call it a book. He was right in the usual sense of that term. It is not a book because there are no talking heads in it.
I am about to write to book about American history from the Southern point of view. Those who love Southern history know that there are few places outside of Elizabethan England from which greater oratory came. That thundering speech is what most of us love to quote.
Those who look to my book for it will be deeply, sorely, heartbrokenly disappointed.
And furious.
I write logic, not oratory. I am pretty good at real oratory myself. I had the paychecks to prove it.
What Sobran wanted was more quotes and especially more quotes from Great Men about how bad things are in America. My book was based on the proposition that everybody could see what I was talking about by a proper reading of the magazines in a doctor’s waiting room.
After one hundred-hour-a-week job after another, steam-cooker pressure job in Washington, I had had enough. So I took a nice, forty-hour-week career job as a writer for the Voice of America.
Needless to say, that “easy” job was the one that did me in. It wasn’t any scary assignments abroad. I could handle an assault weapon.
What did me in was the tape recorder.
All the editors at VOA came from the cookie cutter that produces all media writers today. You have to have a “talking head” in every discussion. So every time you have a TV reporter say, “Many government officials feel that lemons are sour” they have to cut to a clip that shows a man with the words, “James L. Kliphammer, D-New York” below his picture saying, “In my opinion, lemons are sour.”
This is what is called “a talking head” that says what everybody knows. Every cookie-cutter reporter has to do that.
So I was paid the highest salary of any writer in my area because I was an expert on American government. My fatal assignment was to explain the workings of the American government for foreign broadcasts.
Every broadcast had to have two “talking heads.”
To get a “talking head” that week, you had to arrange an interview with an official at the part of the government you were talking about, do a taped interview with him, and then write so that some piece of the tape you had made could be cut and quoted.
I had to cut the tape myself. Anyone who has ever done this will tell you it is, to say the least, tedious. So is setting up an interview in that week. Two of them are twice the fun.
The cookie-cutters were all trained in news departments. What I was doing was not news. I was trying to explain the workings of the many segments of the United States Government to foreigners. It is not easy to explain the workings of the United States Government to Americans. But trying to treat the Federal Communications Commission as if it were a news item and sticking in talking heads made the task impossible. The FCC was not invented this week and the place of a regulatory agency inside the administrative machinery of Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches is not helped by the current opinion of some appointee.
My books were NOT cookie-cutter books. They are explanations of what you already know or should know from a different point of view. I had to rewrite “Why Johnny Can’t Think” fifteen times, and I don’t think there’s a quote in the whole thing.
I don’t WRITE talking heads. I AM the talking head here.
I WROTE the quotes they used from congressmen and senators and cabinet members and the president. At age forty I couldn’t adjust to trying to fit some inane remarks into the complicated explanation they hired me for.
And after I left they couldn’t find a product of the cookie-cutter who COULD.
So my last book was not a REAL book.
My next one won’t be either.
Ex Garbage Dump Lux
In the Great Catastrophe of 2050 A.D. almost all ancient records were destroyed. As civilization began to come back, historians began to try to find out about the past. But they despaired.
The reason they despaired was because they had found enough ancient records to know that historians of the pre-2050 era had only been able to find real history because of an incredibly fortunate coincidence. It happened that everything before them had been invented in the Middle East. Due to a miracle, the Middle East was the very place where all real history had been preserved.
While Europe and all other places had had rain and city after city had been built on the same spot, the Middle East was a place where ruins were found out on the desert. In the Middle East many civilizations fell and STAYED fallen. In Europe one invasion had followed another invasion.
The new historians knew the saying “Ex Oriente Lux,” “Light comes from the East,” on which history before them had been constructed. Everything old had been found in the Middle East, so everything had originated in the Middle East.
Post-2050 historians were delighted beyond measure when they found they had a similar miracle.
Out on the islands of what was once New York, there was a huge, buried area which the pre-2050 ancients had called “Garbage Dump.” Right there was where the earliest example of every kind of writing and artifact of the old civilization was found!
Everything had originated right there, in “Garbage Dump!”
The new history could be written. Everything could be traced to its origins in Garbage Dump.
Ex Garbage Dump Lux.
Be it the Middle East or the Garbage Dump, the professional historian’s motto is, “The Truth is IN there!”
History IS Bunk!
There is no such thing as history. A true historian studies other people’s PRESENT. That is why Politically Correct history is such a farce. The PC historian is trying to show how everybody he is writing about was doing things in order to produce the political outlook of today. They search through every word Jefferson said to find something that will show he really thought just like he was supposed to.
A true historian studies other people’s PRESENT. For example, it is hard for any of us to fully realize that those we read about in Ancient History had an ancient history of their OWN. Nothing illustrates the poverty of our history better than the fact that there has only been one book, in ANY language, about tourism in ancient times, “Travel in the Ancient World” by Lionel Casson.
I have read it at least twenty times. I have it right here beside me.
Casson points out that the pyramids were a huge tourist attraction in 2000 BC. You see, by then the older pyramids were ancient history to the Egyptians who were traveling four millennia ago. We telescope history together so we do not realize that a thousand-year-old monument was as much a wonder to them as Middle Age churches in Europe are to Europeans and Americans today.
One assumes that hieroglyphics on those pyramids were readable to the scribes who visited in 2000 BC. If you think so, try reading something written in Anglo-Saxon a thousand years ago.
Herodotus is known as “The Father of History.” He wrote in the fifth century B.C. But there is something startling modern about WHY he traveled all over his ancient world, all the way to the Black Sea. He was trying to prove exactly what historians are trying to prove today, that everything began in the Middle East.
Herodotus overriding interest was comparative theology. He was traveling when the Egyptian Empire was already three thousand years old. So he tried to show how the Greek gods were derived from the Egyptian gods, just as historians today say that every invention and civilization itself are solely products of Egypt, Mesopotamia and, of course, ancient Israel.
We now know, of course, that the Indo-European gods had nothing whatever to do with the Egyptian ones. We know about Indo-European history, but that was heresy when it first came up. It is still heresy to say that anything came from anywhere but the Middle East, until you are praising ancient China or showing how Egypt was produced by black Africa.

Bob, a side note here:
Just posted your blog in 3 seperate places on an internet news item’s “Discuss This” section. The news article was all about the 300,000,000th. “American” citizen. After posting the Mantra it was funny to find Yahoo pulling the piece from a large front page headline story to a tiny, tiny print – tossed to the side and out of sight – article.
I may be patting myself and the Mantra on the back w/o reason, but it was coincidentally humorous.

ME:
No, it was NOT a coincidence.
One person put Bob’s Blog onto Yahoo! Resolved Questions just as they had an ad on that page for interracial relationships through Yahoo! It had a black woman and a white man and something like, “Two Worlds, One Sky.”
The result was that it looked like the ad was there as an illustration of Bob’s Mantra.
No one is going to TELL you how effective Bob’s Mantra is. But it is a sledgehammer that causes real trouble wherever it shows up. You will see these “coincidences” showing up time after time.
You see, no one else ever objects RATIONALLY to this interracial stuff. The few who do object go on about Jews or something that our enemies are used to handling. This thing hits and STOPS. It causes panic among people who have never had to deal with a rational opposition that is saying EXACTLY what everybody is thinking.
Everywhere you put Bob’s Mantra, dozens, hundreds or thousands of our enemies try to think of an answer and can’t. Ten times that many nod and their thinking is changed.
But no one is going to TELL you that. You just keep hammering.
And DON’T be modest about the results.
I’ve SEEN them.

I have AOL and they have blocked my access to Stormfront. It was nice of them to assume I’M to stupid to make choices in life. When a group needs to be blocked it must be doing something right. But like desegregation, which was forced upon whites and blacks alike in the South, I wasn’t given any say in the matter.
Bob’s a true Southern patriot. He was fighting for his Southern heritage against white Yankees and other leftist do gooders who thought they had a right to force their idea of racial harmony on a section of America that wasn’t asking for their help. Let’s not remain isolated
Let us take our message outside the Internet and get the ball rolling.
They can’t bottle us up any more.

This is the most challenging part of “The Awakening,” the realization that total warfare has been declared against us on the RACIAL level, by a RACIAL opponent that is always RACIALLY united around One Commandment – “IS IT GOOD FOR JEWS?”
NOT “Is It Good For A Jew?”
No.
Their focus is TOTALLY on the RACIAL focus, always putting you on the defense, while remaining totally on the soft attack themselves, through their preeminent tools for cultural warfare, the Propasphere, and the public fool system.
This is also our greatest weakness; our total abrogation of an Awareness of our RACE, and even our contempt for it, makes us willful co-conspirators in squandering the tremendous heritage bestowed upon us by our ancestors.
I only wish that I knew twenty years ago what I know today, that we are up against a totally relentless RACIAL enemy that will stop at nothing to destroy us AS A RACE…
The anger I feel reflects the helplessness I have learned to feel in dealing with the issue of RACE.
Those days of learned helplessness are OVER!

“Are YOUR fingers broken?”
Bob, if you’ll permit me, may I point out that while I realize this piece was intended for Dave’s reply, I think it would be a good idea to remind everyone to keep posting Bob’s Mantra anywhere you can. I have already lost 1 email account beacuse of my posting the mantra and everyday I look for new places that I can possibly slip it in. I have been posting them in the discussion areas of various news articles that are race relevant, usually yahoo news. This may not be the best place but I am getting the message out to a few people and hopefully a few more “converts” will check out WOL and get with the revolution.
Anyway, that was two cents worth. Now back to your regularly scheduled progrm.

The Union
Posted by Bob in Coaching Session on 10/22/2006
William Fox wants me to write the book on “Wordism” I wanted to write and to write an American history from the Southern white point of view.
Sometimes a person who gives out good advice is the last to listen to what he himself says. I keep telling you that all my ideas must interrelate. I suddenly realized that both these concepts interrelate as a single subject. The Southern concept of the American Union versus that of Lincoln’s is a classic example of racism versus Wordism.
We always saw America as united by RACE. The settling of the British colonies was always looked upon as an extension of the expansion of the Indo-European, Aryan RACE. The covered wagons we used to move westward even LOOKED like the ones our Aryan ancestors used as they moved, wave after wave, into Europe, Iran, and India.
We no longer find it easy to think of India or Iran as a part of that migration because they are no longer WHITE.
Our ancestors went to America by ship. But my Weissaker ancestors took over Britain by ship, too. I don’t have to tell you about the Vikings.
Not a single word of the ancient ship-talk we all now about has a Middle Eastern origin. From jib to yardarm, it is all old Saxon stuff.
To get back to the interrelation of my thought, you remember that I have said repeatedly that those who hate invariably use the word “Hate” to describe their enemies, that the person who is our to destroy education poses as a champion of Education?
Lincoln talked endlessly about Freedom and put America under martial law to win the 1864 election.
And, above all, Lincoln talked about Saving the Union.
So by now it is routine to the point of a yawn for you and me to look for the person who destroyed the Union to look for the person who shouted “Union” loudest.
Today we have the fruits of Lincoln’s labors. The idea of single united America is going down the tubes, and everybody knows it.
The Union was a result of the Aryan movement into America. In the Dred Scot Decision, the Supreme Court made it perfectly clear that America was a WHITE country, and that was the basis of our Union. Southern states owned slaves, but Northern states benefited from that more than the South did.
But in 1863 Lincoln ended THAT Union once and for all. He threw away the Preamble to our Constitution, on which the Union was based, and declared that America is based on the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence, that ALL men were created equal, that ALL men made up America.
Lincoln talked about a house divided against itself cannot stand. But that is precisely what we have today, a house divided against itself. And every day it is MORE divided.
When Yankees took the side of the blacks and the Indians against us, their fellow whites, they destroyed the contract that had taken America all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The Fourteenth Amendment was the final nail in that coffin.
So I propose that the two books be one book.
What say ye?

William Fox will be putting Plague on Both Your Houses, The New Right Papers and Why Johnny Can’t Think ALL on e-books. He also wants me to write two more.
When I sent him a copy of my blog piece promoting his efforts, he thanked me. He wanted me to tell you that he will not COMPLETE his web page until November:
www.amfirstbooks.com
He was a bit embarrassed to say that, but all of us understand THAT completely. He is an overworked man trying to do a lone job for our cause.
Which means that I think he needs our encouragement RIGHT NOW. Let’s get to his web site and encourage him!
And don’t forget him as he slowly manages to get into business. He says on his web page that he is not yet open for business. But WE sure as hell can be. See if you can preorder and for God’s sake, TALK HIM UP!
For once, let some of us in our movement not go onto other topics and back a comrade up, CONSISTENTLY.

I wish BW would post on these issues more often.
Whether it is academia, the media, or the hollow rituals of the election cycle the “controversies” are always phony. There is nothing new in this.
How do you get people to understand that when it comes to “controversy” anything plausible routinely takes the place of the truth?
That is how real opposition IS ALWAYS co-opted.
Our multicultural opponents NEED THE MINUTEMEN. They NEED THE INTELLECTUALS OF VDARE.
I could not possibly attempt to address my concerns in such a way. My hatred is far too deep for that.
It is this kind of hatred that makes revolutions.

I have just seen the title of an ongoing thread in Stormfront about fighting amnesty for illegal aliens.
Why would we be part of this? There are millions of people out there fighting amnesty. Our input will mean very little.
I have been part of many, many general movements, but my only purpose was not to determine THAT outcome, but to find potential recruits for OUR ideas, OUR cause.
Being a loner is no fun. It is easy to get excited when, at last, you find yourself in the midst of a huge group of people who are on your side. Many of our people get lost in some cause like that. They keep saying, “Well, I am really fighting for US.”
But to keep fighting for US while you are participating in an exciting movement with thousands of others takes a LOT of mental discipline.
My purpose in fighting immigration is to keep making the general point that my RACE is in danger. I get recruits that way. I get people to start thinking our way by that means. On the Big Issue of the Moment I make little difference. The Big Issue of the Moment, though it may matter greatly, is not my focus.
My aim is to get our people thinking RACIALLY. When it comes to immigration, the neocons are trying to keep it from becoming racial. THEY are my opponents, not the open border freaks.
Stormfront is going nowhere if we just become a tail on the Fashionable Cause dog. Bob’s Blog is not ABOUT to paint itself into that corner.
In any movement, our ONLY aim is to make it RACIAL. When you involve Stormfront in the issue itself, you are wasting the time and energy of the few people who can make a real difference.
Are we going to grow or are we going to become just one more of an endless number of groups that support big time causes? This is a VERY clear choice.
We can be the group that insists on the basics of race or we can be just a fringe of the general fight against immigration or critics of Jewish power.
Another Interrelationship of Thought
Posted by Bob in Coaching Session on 10/20/2006
I just wrote a piece on Stormfront that might have been written for this Blog. That is to say, the beginning was definitely blog stuff. I talked about how a person had started a thread that led into very productive thoughts that strayed completely away from what the person first said.
Sound familiar?
Here it is:
——————————————————————————–
I want to thank vajo, jr. for having the courage to start this thread.
As so often happens with thoughtful comments, the important points made here have wandered far away from vajo’s original statement. He was scratching an intellectual itch, and when you do that with other powerful minds, the most unexpected insights ensue.
I was depressed when Don Black pointed out that Stormfront readership has indeed hit a ceiling. But that needed to be said. It is problem we must face.
The fact is that Stormfront was a relief to tens of thousands who share out belief system and have been banned from saying so. They poured in, scaring the media out of its wits.
A knowedgable commenter gave a specific example of the establishment’s counterattack, setting up filters to keep us off of many computers. We know about AOL’s suppression.
I said to myself, “Bob, you’re an idiot. What the hell did you EXPECT?”
OF COURSE they are counterattacking. We are not a bunch of fake “revolutionaries” like The Love Children of the Sixties whom the establishment loved dearly. We are real, serious revolutionaries, and the measure of the importance of real revoluionaries is the counterattack.
But there is are at least two totally SEPARATE problem here that has come out here. I said that those with our belief system have poured in here. I would guess that, due to fear, maybe ten percent of those who sympathize with us have actually registered.
But I have yet to meet a single person out in the world in general, hard-core segregationists and all, who has even HEARD of Stormfront. The programs I was on about Stormfront on Fox were suppressed as soon as they aired.
But even if we reached all of our comrades out there, there is another, even more important problem. We have been discussing it here at length.
Before I go into this last point, let me make an important statement about the ones before. They contain very good news. Nobody ever made a revolution by sitting around moaning, “It’s all HOPELESS! I am so good and everybody else is uncaring and treasonous! I’m going to take my water pistol and go home.”
The first point is that we have scared the hell out of the media. The groundswell they keep insisting isn’t there IS there, and the tiny resources of Don Black and Jamie Kelso found it.
Secondly they have mounted a major counterattack. I have watched for decades while one little rebellion after another was simply ignored out of existence.
Now to point three. When you get into this movement you learn about a different world from that others take for granted. Then you begin talking to others who have been here a long time. You become fascinated by things that outsiders know nothing about.
Point three is this: People inside the movement completely forget HOW they got here.
Old Coach Whitaker and probably Dr. Duke were just loyal white Southern boys when we began. I didn’t READ my way into this battle. Nobody gave me a book that Exposed the Truth and changed my life.
Yet that is exzactly what too many of us are trying to do. A committed comrade can prfit from such a group, but that approach limits us to the membership that is hitting a ceiling.
I find that I get RECRUITS when I attack, not Jews, but the educational monopoly that is paid to enforce Political Correctness. That hits a nerve becasue that is the group that is ruining the lives of young people.
Integration was not a BOOK to Young Bob Whitaker. It was an attack on the South, backed by every resource outsiders had. The same Catholci Church that bitches about Roe Versus Wade excommunicated people in New Orleans who objected to Brown Versus the Board of Education of Topeka and cheered when all antimiscegenation laws were struck down by the Court without a shred of precedent.
None of this was in a Secret Book. It was headlines.
While we are exposing Jews, the average person is faced with the complete destruction of his homeland. He is oppressed with a more and more openly anti-white policy.
There is nothing surprising about the counterattack. It just shows our effectiveness. There is nothing surprising that a group of people who are talking to each other have hit a ceiling in the population that wants to talk to talk to each other.
This HAD to happen.
We can either remember our roots and get onto gut issues or we can remain a limited debate society. Every real revolutionary movement reaches this point.
It proves we are a real revolutionary movement. It also shows the direction we must begin discussing.

My kidding with Joe reminds me of something I’d like to put on record.
As you are aware, the success of Alcoholic Anonymous has led to the creation of hundreds of other Twelve-Step groups to del with other things besides alcohol abuse. They range from Emotions Anonymous to Sexaholics Anonymous and endless others, none of which are a joke and all of which are serious.
Which led to JOKES inside AA. All of us have heard the one about Procrastinators Anonymous, which has yet to hold its first meeting.
I got tired of that one, so I made up some of my own:
“Have you heard of Paranoids Anonymous?”
“Who the hell told you about us?”
Have you heard of Depressives Anonymous?”
“They only had one meeting. They agreed it was hopeless and went home.”
“Have you ever heard of Workaholics Anonymous?”
“They attend fourteen meetings a day.”
“Have you ever heard of Shy People Anonymous?”
“Of course you haven’t.”
Putting Iran Paper Here
Posted by Bob in Comment Responses on 10/19/2006
Commenters have been kind enough to ask me if I would put my Iran paper here.
I don’t think it would be a good idea for me to put it here because they expect to have it presented new there, if they accept it. They probably don’t want to pay for my trip halfway around the world to present something that is alreadyon the Internet.
Even if they turn it down it is pushing three thousand words in length. Commenters object to long entries here.
But thank you for your interest.
I am still waiting for Kelso’s staff work, about which I will probably have to call him tomorrow. One commenter called and offered to read it over for me privately. I will have to wait for Kelso’s final before I can decide on that.
Again, thanks for your interest.
Going to Iran
While most of the people who know me are not the least surprised that I might go to Iran, some of my family and my doctor are up in arms about it.
The United States Government warns people not to go to Iran beacause some have been kidnapped by outlaws over there. But if I did not go where outlaws might have killed me, my travels would have been very limited indeed. In Europe in 1959 the Germans I was with insisted that we only speak English in the Netherlands because of violent anti-German feeling there.
They may have a wonderful chance to say, “I WARNED him” if they see me being held as a kidnapee over there or having my head cut off.
This is a very painful business unless an expert does it, and they don’t assign experts to it when you are kidnapped. I know about that.
The United States still does nothave diplomatic relations with Iran since the American Embassy was invaded and its employees held there for a year at the end of the Carter Administration. As anaside, I know exactly where the Iranian Embassy was and probably still is. It is directly beside the South African Embassy on Massachusetts Avenue in Washington. Back then the South African Embassy was forbidden territory which I visited regularly. Now it is loved by Washigton and the Iranian Embassy is forbidden territory.
I seem to have a habit being in places the United States Government does not like.
When I first went to Russia legally, it was famous for the violence that followed the overthrow of the Soviet Empire. People told me not to go there. What they didn’t know or couldn’t understand was that it was a LOT safer for me then than it had been before.
The chances are less than fifty-fifty they’ll invite me, but I plan to go if they do. Maybe this time my luck will run out. But it’s a little late for me to change my lifetime habits.
Paper for Iran Conference
I have been silent because I spent yesterday writing and rewriting over 5000 words for an academic paper I may present in Teheran. They are having another conference on the Holocaust there starting on December 11, and I was indirectly asked to participate. I sent a summary of what I would have to say to them to see if they were interested.
The whole world raised hell about the last Holocaust conference they held there. It is the only place outside the United States where facts about the official version of how many Jews died under the Nazis that can be held outside of the United States. National Review has given it as an example in its ongoing campaign to promote war with Iran.
I sent an abstract of my paper earlier and got a request yesterday for the entire presentation. Since Iran is on a much later time schedule than we are, I got it about four in the morning and started to write the whole presentation then.
IPIS, the academic organization in Iran which sponsors the conference, is understandably concerned about the topic of my paper. I want to talk about how the suppression of any questions about Israel and the Holocaust are part and parcel of our established religion of Political Correctness. But they are not about to let a foreigner hold forth on the general subject of theocracy.
As a Southerner who has spent a lifetime listening to outsiders tell us all about our own problems, I understand that perfectly. They do not need another American lecturing them about theocracy.
I wrote a 2500-word piece and submitted it to knowledgeable comrades for comment. Only James Kelso, as usual came through. His advice was invaluable and I rewrote the whole thing according to his recommendations.
Writing 5,000 words on an academic level would have been hard for me when I was younger and writing feverishly for debates that suddenly came up in Congress. Today it is even harder on me. I was up at midnight still talking it over with Kelso.
Kelso, bless him, is going to do staff for me. He liked the first draft but he likes this one better and he had some useful suggestions about what to take out and what to add. I pointed out that HE can add what should be added and remove what he objects to, and then I can decide on the final.
Then I went to bed and passed out. I am going to call Kelso back tomorrow if he hasn’t done the job. He is a busy man with plenty of things to do, but I have spent my entire career working with busy people who had other things to do, and making a pest of myself, a.k.a., following up, is part of my work habits.

I thought all my schooling was a terrible joke.
Middle school thought me valuable lessons about authority figures, minorities with power, anti-white racism and how WWII was the only thing that ever happened in history. Ever since then I’ve had a problem listening to anyone telling me what to do. Especially if they include the words “it’s for your own good” or “i have the rules behind me”. The law is an ass.
I graduated high school with a 2.03 GPA. Depression, boredom, and hopelessness were the three feelings that weighed heavily on me. My teachers could never figure me out. My parents said i wasn’t trying hard enough and they were damn right, but they refused to listen to my reasoning about why i was failing. Spanish and math were genuine failures, but in the rest i just couldn’t take the busy work. I could never figure out how answering a bunch of mindless questions on a piece of paper signified i sufficiently learned a concept or historical event. It produced nothing but 30 other similar copies. The curriculum in my mind came to signify conformity, there was no room for independent thought.
I realized in late 2002 that the teachers were the products their “education”, the standard attitudes developed in their jobs and the JOB ITSELF was the problem. I realized that underperforming schools wasn’t just the folly of the student, it was the system. It failed big time (or succeeded) and no adult could see there was no hope in reforming it, they all wanted to see more money go to it. I knew what i was feeling had to be shared by others. I made one of my lifelong goals that day, the complete and total destruction of the education system.
Now that i’ve finally escaped the thumb of state education my parents are forcing me into the grasp of mommy professor. Once again i feel depressed knowing that i still won’t be learning but this time spending vast amounts of money to be there. I really don’t know what to do about college and the depression both are tender on my nerves right now.

I can’t get over the fact that Brian said he was just plain scared.
Inspired by Brian, I am going to make a statement that will destroy any shred of respect any remaining Tough Guys out there ever had for me. If you read “Mensa Working People” you will get the impression that I had all the “educators” figured out and that, when I entered the university of age sixteen, I went in with a courageous laugh.
Young Bob was scared witless and something that rhythms with it. The doofuses professors had sent staggering out into the public school teachership had been flunking me and I was about the face the professors THEMSELVES.
All this is easy for me to say at 65, but when I was 16 I was fifty percent sure I was the doofus, not them. They were out there in the “real world,” and I had no acquaintanceship at all with it. Before every single test my stomach was in a knot. I could see myself sitting there facing questions that were an absolute blank to me, while all the regular high school graduates around me, people who had qualified the regular way, went right ahead and dealt with them. This lasted for YEARS.
Now to what I think is Brian’s real fear.
Remember that everything I say here should INTERCONNECT. In My last article on “Fear,” I made a statement few but Brian could identify with. I said that it wasn’t just that Teddy Roosevelt inherited enough money so that he would never have to work, but that his father and his family did not EXPECT him to work.
Anyone but Brian and I would tend to say, “Well, hell, if he had the money, why should he care what anybody thought?”
Joe Kennedy, father of John and Teddy Kennedy, gave each of his children one million dollars tax-free cash when they reached their twenty-first birthday. This was in the THIRTIES AND FOURTIES, and you know how much a million was then. Papa Joe said he did that so that “My children can tell me to go to hell if they want to.”
Actually every one of Joseph Kennedy’s kids lived in terror of him all their lives. He EXPECTED everything from them. He wanted his oldest son to be president and when s oldest son got killed in World War II, the burden fell on John. John Kennedy joked about that when reporters kidded him during the 1960 campaign about his father buying the election for him.
He said, “I told my father I just needed enough votes to win. I don’t want him to pay for a landslide.”
People who can make jokes like that have been through hell. A good sense of humor usually comes from a lot of pain.
Brian is terrified that his parents are going to think he’s a dunce. And I can’t assure him that they WON’T.
Do you have any idea of the kind of guts it takes for a man of eighteen to admit that he is afraid of parental disapproval? We live in a world where we are taught that eighteen-year-olds were out saving the world in fearless combat (in Nam, now that the WWII crowd is dying out). And here is Brian admitting that he is a guy living at home who is afraid of what his parents will think.
All the Tough Guys will look down on Brian. You are more than welcome to look down on me, too. But this is harder on Brian because I am old and I have really found out what morons they are. Lord, I HATE Tough Guys, and I think you can see why. I will take Brian over a million of them.
Saint John Kennedy, combat veteran and president, was terrified of his father until the day he died. Teddy Roosevelt had a priceless advantage John Kennedy would have given ANYTHING for. All this INTERCONNECTS with Brian. And Brian had the guts to bring it out.

Elizabeth,
I’m scared to death of college, like i am with the DMV. I really don’t know the first place to start to even get into one. I’ve been stalling on taking my SAT’s for reasons unknown.
My problem with math is that I’m unable to put the formula for problems to use and end walking away in frustration. After a couple of failed courses, I’d rather keep what little pride I have left.

ME:
I am deeply proud to have Brian as one of us.
I believe he is the first person here besides me who has just plain said he was SCARED of something.
This is a billion miles away from the World War II cheapos who say “All us heroic types who have gone into combat were scared.” Brian is not bragging, he is SAYING something so few people have the raw courage to admit, even to themselves.
And he is saying it to US. If you can’t come to your comrades for moral support, we are not comrades.
Thank you, Brian. You have done something unique for all of us.

Comments have been coming in that have put me in a state of euphoria.
Just ONE example:
You know that there is nobody I can identify with like a comrade who has put his whole heart into this struggle and who is desperately TIRED. Not only that, but he can SEE that everything we live for is being destroyed before his eyes.
And those are the very comrades I am giving a renewed courage to get back in there and duke it out. Right now, when we can make the difference and when the crisis is becoming clear to everybody, they need new courage and drive that we NOW of all the times in history.
And they are getting that renewed energy just when they need it from ME!
PLEASE, PLEASE:
READ THE COMMENTS!
I am in the wonderful position of having a little flood of comments that I would like put here in the body of the blog, the way I do with some of that smartass Dave’s stuff, but are too MANY of them. You have to go read them yourself.
Gee, what a problem!
Now THAT is the sort of “problem” I LIVE for!
A New Book by Bob!
America First Books is a new one-man concern you might want to look at:
www.amfirstbooks.com
I have ghosted a number of books for others, which was where the money was, and I have written three under my own name.
America First Books will go out of business if nobody supports it. It is completely dedicated to the publication of e-books. I have no idea what exactly e-books are, but since I was in politics, the fact that I am completely ignorant of the subject does not prevent Ole Bob from making expert commentary on it.
For me, the point is that William Fox, who is trying to make a go of this company and who always sounds tired when I call him, is a big fan of mine. If you think Bob is somebody you want to encourage, you will be a fan of his.
Let me start off by saying that I had absolutely sworn off the whole idea of writing another book on any subject. There are very few people who have published books in the usual printed format, and you will play hell trying to get Their Majesties to talk to peasants like you.
Now that I am anathema to New York and even to Joe Sobran and Pat Buchanan, real authors won’t speak to me, either. I’m kind of proud of that. You have to be an Olympic class S.O.B. to have been the editor of The New Right Papers with all the big names and then to find that even the most extreme of your former comrades will not return your calls.
I hope you don’t think I’m being egotistical here, but I am not only in that Olympic class of S.O.B’s, I am a serious contender in the Olympic Finals in that category.
OK, I’ve bragged enough. Back to the subject.
There are very few of us who published books for top publishers under the old system, and all of them but me call into a category that might be referred as His Majesty. So it is no surprise that Mr. Fox had trouble understanding why he was such a relief to me.
Try to understand how much effort goes into a book under the New York publishing system. You put together a complete outline and write a chapter. Then you waited a month or more before receiving a reply from the publisher.
That was THEN. NOW you wait SEVERAL months. In fact, unless you are an “established author” you can no longer submit the outline and chapter to a publisher directly. You have to get an agent first. That means CONTACTS.
There was a time when His Lordship the Agent would be willing to read over your proposal if you paid him to do so. Even that is now in the past.
Anyway, the point is that under the present system the last thing that is important is writing. My last book, “Why Johnny Can’t Think,” was submitted by my team to different publishers. One of them, seeing my background, thought I was a great deal. They accepted the book.
Then they READ the damned thing.
You know, I have gotten rejection slips in my time, but this one was a doozy. They said that not only were they backing out on publishing “Why Johnny Can’t Think,” but they were destroying all correspondence relating to it.
So I paid for it myself. I sold out the first printing of three thousand copies, minus the ones Scriptures for America and James Edwards of The Political Cesspool are still selling. Normally when you sell out the first edition you print a new one. In fact, I know no exception to this rule but ME. I was just too exhausted to bother.
Now maybe you can understand why America First Books was such a relief. William Fox just wants me to WRITE.
After all my years as a Washington insider, an Official Discussant on academic papers before Nobel Laureates, and all the rest, the fact that I still cling to the idea that a writer’s function is to WRITE sounds idiotic. Maybe you can attribute to my being from the Bible Belt or to brain damage.
A writer’s function is to make contacts, not to spend all his time in front of a keyboard.
I understand that.
So Mr. Fox simply cannot understand how relieved I am that all he wants me to do is WRITE.
He wants about anything I will give him. He wants my book explaining “Wordism.” In fact, he is insisting that I write a book about American history from the Southern perspective.
Under the best of conditions, writing a book is bone-crushingly hard. But I am going to try.
Menopause and Paranoia
I like to describe one of the banes of my life this way:
I think out loud about a subject that strikes me as important. The person I am talking to then says, “So what you’re saying is that my mother is ugly.”
He then goes into an enraged explanation about what the subject was and how my reply could be interpreted that way. I have spent a major part of my life trying to tell people I was NOT talking about their other, and even apologizing for having put my comment in a way that, from another point of view, might be interpreted that way.
This seminar is an enormous relief.
When I was doing WhitakerOnline for different audiences, it was always a lot like trying to give a lecture to a group of menopausal old maids, most of them male.
WhitakerOnline began as a part of the League of the South website. It became by far the most-read part of that website. But as Southerner descended from Jamestown Southerners, the place where the South originated, I had some remarks to make about the Calvinists, including the Pilgrim Fathers, who were supposed to have “founded” America.
Actually, the pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock were trying to reach Virginia, which had already elected its House of Burgesses and was a going concern.
I caught hell for that. You see, the League of the South was founded and run by people who are total Calvinistic theocrats. To them, Calvinist theology as represented by the pilgrims and LATER by the Puritans was what their idea of an independent South was all about.
Below you will find a piece called “Agents” in which I wrote about decades of nasty little people who have planted rumors about our comrades by saying they are “agents.” I put it in a Stormfront thread. Suddenly the lady who started the thread said I was being “vitriolic” towards her.
This is a woman I have helped out and who has thanked me for it. But she decided to take what I said as a personal insult to HER. It had nothing to do with her. So I had to spend a good deal of time writing a placating reply to whatever the hell it was she though I had said about her or her mother being ugly or whatever the hell it was I was guilty of.
Now, after eight years, I have a group that does not act like a group of paranoid menopausal nutcases. You could hardly take it as a compliment that I do not regard you as a group of nasty nutcases.
But you can appreciate what a relief you are to me.
Fear Again

I am trying to think of a topic that will get you talking. You, like any human being, want to sound profound, but that is not what I am looking for. It may sound sexist, but in this respect you cannot beat a mature, intelligent woman.
Shari and Elizabeth say what they are thinking about. Shari is too modest about her thoughts to suit my taste, but that doesn’t keep her from simply saying what is on her mind. Elizabeth will go on about her family or other personal things, but there is always a point I can chew on. The average male ego would rather die than say “merely” personal things.
Women’s Lib would be deeply offended at my making a general remark like this about women. But I have yet to find a single thing a man can say about women that Women’s Lib is NOT offended by, so I am interested in the Elizabeths and Sharis who would hunt me down and mount my head on their wall if I called them Women’s Libbers.
To return to my original topic here, I am trying to find a topic that will get you talking. I got some good stuff out of “Fear,” so I’m going to try it again.
Let me risk saying that almost every member of this seminar has some fear about money. Let me give you some background on that.
One biographer of Teddy Roosevelt talked about Theodore Roosevelt’s cowboy days. He said Teddy was a good, brave man out on the range and he was fearless in fighting during the Spanish-American War. With good reason when Teddy dealt with cowboys and soldiers, he considered himself “one of the guys.” He was hurt by the fact that he wasn’t fully thought of that way by his buddies, and he never understood why.
This biographer had a terrific insight on this. The writer said that Theodore Roosevelt was considered to be a brave, highly skilled man and a good friend by his fellows, “But he never shared with them the daily, humiliating fear of being without MONEY.”
Roosevelt’s father was proud of this fact: “I have left enough money to my son so that, if he is not profligate, he will never have to work for a living.” It wasn’t just that Teddy inherited money. There was also the fact that his father never expected him to ever have to work. He did not have to earn his father’s respect by striving. His family did not require him to EARN their respect.
That is a million miles from where his buddies lived. That is a million miles from where you and I live.
Another example. A WWII vet in the program was leveling with me. He had lots of combat experience in the Pacific Theatre and he had the medals to prove it. He told me about an island where he and other vets spent some time when they were not in actual fighting. The island was under the command of a particularly obnoxious colonel.
That colonel was no coward. That colonel who was in command and everybody else there had been in combat, plenty of it. But the colonel had one awful habit. When he got drunk at the officers’ club, he got mean. He would bang into people on purpose. Nobody dared to object to it. Finally one of the combat vets there actually knocked the hell out of him for it.
The guy who knocked hell out of hte commanding colonel went to military prison. The man who was talking to me admitted that if he or anybody else had gone to the court martial and testified as to how that colonel acted, their fellow combat veteran would not have gone to prison. In fact, the colonel would have probably been up on charges.
NOT ONE of the defendant’s beloved, loyal buddies dared to testify for him! There were dozens of them, but not one of them had the courage to speak up. This was something the vet who was talking to me had kept inside himself for years. He said I was the first person he had ever admitted it to.
So why didn’t these brave combat officers save their buddy from prison?
The reason was that none of these officers who chickened out had ruled out the possibility of remaining in the service after the war. Testifying AGAINST a senior officer in a court martial would put them in the same category as a doctor who testifies against other doctors in a malpractice suit. There are no legal penalties against it, but it can be suicide for a career.
They had ALL shown heroism in the nasty fighting on Pacific islands. None of them would have hesitated to risk death or lifelong disabilityto save their buddy’s life in actual fighting.
But NONE of them had the guts to risk his career, his MONEY, for a combat buddy in desperate need of their help. They had all been through the Depression, and the idea of hitting the job market at the age of thirty or forty with no non-military skills scared them so much that they let a buddy go to prison rather than risk a possible military career.
So it makesme sick to my stomach when these same WWII vets would tell me that nobody knows REAL fear unless they have been in COMBAT.
Bullshit.
I have been shot at, and I have faced the prospect of losing my high-paying job and hitting the job market at age forty. Getting shot at is nothing by comparison.
And THAT is what Theodore Roosevelt simply could not understand or empathize with.
Mensa Working People
Posted by Bob in How Things Work on 10/15/2006
I almost flunked out of high school. Two things saved me. First of all my mother had had a year of college and she had been a public school teacher in the 1920s. The other was a special characteristic of the backward State of South Carolina in the benighted age of segregation when everybody else was smarter than we were.
South Carolina has the highest proportion of military veterans among all the states in the Union. It has been that way since I was born. That proportion has always been even higher than the Volunteer State of Tennessee. When the GI Bill of Rights came in at the end of World War II, this presented a problem. A lot of vets qualified for the GI Bill of Rights but they hadn’t finished, or even gone to, high school.
This was before we had the GED, where a person above 19 years of age could take a test and get the equivalent of a high school diploma. Back then, what we now call the SAT was called the National College Boards. The University of South Carolina wanted to say that anyone who passed the National College Boards, which, after all, were NATIONAL, could enter the University of South Carolina.
The national accreditation board went berserk. If a university down in what they called “peanut” and “hillbilly” country were allowed to do that, it would destroy the value of a high school diploma, which they also accredited. They threatened to take away South Carolina’s accreditation if it adopted that rule.
On the other hand, the University was not about to keep thousands of self-educated veterans out of school if they didn’t spend years going back to high school. So a compromise was reached. The University adopted a rule that a person who scored in the TOP QUARTER of the national college boards could enter whether he had had any formal schooling or not. So the national accreditation group accepted that.
My mother knew that the reason I was almost failing out of high school at ages fifteen and sixteen was because I was bored into helplessness. So she arranged for me to take an intelligence test. That was before my drinking days, so My IQ was out of sight. That convinced my father to let me go ahead, take the College Board exam at sixteen, and go to the University.
If my mother had not been a teacher or if I were anywhere but South Carolina, I would have flunked out of high school. I had already done plenty of manual and skilled work on our brick plant, so I would have become a skilled worker.
Whenever Mensa, the high-IQ group, is discussed, reporters always comment on the large number of manual laborers who belong to it. There are, of course, endless numbers more who would qualify but it never occurs to them to try. If you’re not “educated” you’re not supposed to be smart.
So, besides my being raised with working people in Pontiac, South Carolina, there is this other reason I am able to deal with leaders of grassroots, working-class protests. I respect them, and it shows. So they trust me.
Let me add one more part of my history which shows just how smart these “educated” people are. When I was flunking out of high school, there were national SUBJECT tests. That is, all the students in selected schools throughout the country who were just finishing a course in basic algebra or second year history or whatever were tested on their knowledge of the subject in order to compare teaching nationwide. Columbia High School, which I attended the last two years of my high school career, was one of the schools in that national test.
My teachers always made damned sure that I was part of the group taking EACH of those subject tests. I made them look good. In every single subject I scored above 95% in subject knowledge, and usually at 99%, compared to the NATIONAL average, including the much-publicized, highly financed schools with rich kids in New England. I was specifically selected as the shining example of a South Carolinian who learned all about the subjects in our poorly-financed school system which was forty-eighth in the ranking of forty-eight states.
The SAME teachers who insisted that I show how much I knew about each subject were the SAME teachers who gave me Cs and Ds in their courses!! They were following the grading techniques Mommy Professor had given them in college.
It never once occurred to a single one of these teachers that there was something wrong here! The fact I was their star example of someone who knew the subject and that they were giving me low to failing marks never struck them as the slightest contradiction. It never even occurred to them that there was something wrong with what Mommy Professor had taught them.
And that, boys and girls, is what I mean by Militant Ignorance.

Bob, when in the past I have said you write what I am thinking, I didn’t mean you verbalize my hidden beliefs. I meant that you actually write in the very words I was using that day at the same time. Do I have an implant in my neck recording what I say and think?
For example, about the time you would have been writing the above, I was reading page 111 in The Southern Essays of Richard M. Weaver in regard to the debates between Webster (who was on the Rothschild’s payroll) and Hayne. To be honest, I just opened my book to this page, and it was so good, I knew it was important. Then I saw it in your blog:
“Hayne reminded Webster first of how he had shifted his position on the tariff between 1824 and 1828 and then of New England had failed to support the Union during the War of 1812, citing especially the Hartford Convention.
In the conclusion Hayne returned to the chief issue by stating the doctrine of reserved power.
The worst enemies of the Union were the promoters of consolidation.
The “Carolina doctrine” was merely a re-affirmation of the Kentucky-Virginia resolutions of ‘98. It was republican doctrine:
Sir, as to the doctrine that the Federal Government is the exclusive judge of the extent as well as the limitations of its power, it seems to me to be utterly subversive of the sovereignty and independence of the States. It makes little difference, in my estimation, whether Congress or the Supreme Court, are invested with this power.
South Carolina had tried to preserve the Union by the only means through which it could be preserved — resistance to usurpation.
He closed with a quotation from Burke: “You must pardon something to the spirit of liberty.”
By this time the conflict of interests was clear… (Hayne) had managed to touch upon several of the chief topics… and he injected into the exchange one word about which the whole argument may revolve logically — the word “liberty.”
By now Bob is falling asleep, but my comment is that the South carried the day with rhetoric. Webster and company were failing over and over again in their speeches, but they used them as a delay to give them time to wrap up the financial deals they needed and to arrange that the elections soon to come would be divided four-ways. The consolidationists would need that four-way split, since they could never win the popular vote.
Rule of thumb: The powerful use debate to buy themselves time and take the good off guard.
The good use heroism and self-sacrifice, such as in the Alamo, to buy the good time and take the powerful off guard.
To buy time, each uses its own weakness. The powerful use debate (lies always lose to truth in open debate), the good use power (the Alamo was a tiny outpost and Santana headed an empire).
