T. Boone Pickens’ “Problem” – Yea, Right!

Posted by Bob on July 19th, 2009 under Coaching Session

Pickens says he has a transmission problem with the $10 billion wind-power project he was winding up for.

Thomas Edison had a real problem with his DC electric generation. That was genuine and it happened over a century and a quarter ago. But today you don’t do the specs for a local generator, let alone a major project, without working all that out before it’s even submitted at the lowest level.

Especially if you want to work for T. Boone. T Boone’s idea of a cozy evening at home is for him and his wife to read stock reports to each other.

Like T. Boone, I discovered that a Southern accent is the ultimate weapon in dealing with the Smart Guys. He wanted to get in with the new administration and the power brokers, so he took the leadership in environmentally friendly power generation. They made him spokesman.

He offered them a ten billion dollar investment in wind power. Now, he say, he has this “unexpected” problem with sending the power to Dallas, so he has to rethink.

Yea, right. So now he has all the credit and this project will run into endless unexpected problems so he can’t invest too much in it. He’s just a dumb old Southern boy who happens to have money, so Obama’s keepers probably will be satisfied.

Being a skilled liar is central to the art of negotiation.

But what is more important is that Mr. Pickens has very clear notions as to what specifically he is loyal to and skill at being a liar is secondary to determining who the winner will be.

What specifically you are loyal to has that honor hands down.

    Money talks; BS walks.

Two extraneous points. 1.) Had to register again which proven to be super aggravating with old name getting 404, popping up again and an assigned password so insane that it had to be handwritten in order to enter it. Enuf of the bitch. 2.) When I was a lad eons past I was give a small pocket almanac that had statistics for those who served and were casualties in both world wars. They were government numbers. The various tables broke down the numbers by ethnic background (parental), country of origin and religion. Does anyone know if these statistics are available anywhere on the net? I can’t even recoup them from the library. I know that members of one religion got them pulled because of its low level of service, but all copies could not have been destroyed. The only conflict such statistics are presently available is for Vietnam as the monument accidentally published the religious figures and they have not been effaced yet.
