Technical Request

Posted by BoardAd on February 16th, 2012 under Coaching Session

SysOp and I would like to request that each and everyone of you change your passwords to a combination of upper and lowercase with numbers.

http://www.whatsmyip.org/random-password-generator/

Tick off the top 5 boxes and set to 12.

—————-

It appears we are all clear. Let us know if you experience any more weirdness in the operation.

Again, we are grateful that there was not any damage done.

Thank you.

A little off subject, but I just had a scare. After I submitted my comments in the forum and went to click on the “Fight White Genocide” tab at the top of the page I got this message:
    ———————————————
    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /blog/ on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I restarted my computer, opened my browser, cleared my history, and listed BUGS as an exception in blocked sites. Now I’m back on…Whew! That was really scary. My heart actually sunk for a minute.
I hope this doesn’t turn into an issue.
As I am sure you are aware, this site is flagged by several internet security programs. Firefox, which I use now redirects me to “Badware” as a potentially harmful site every time I log in. It is not much more than an annoyance…yet. Is this somehow related?

    c-bear,

Nope, that was our fault. Testing access file permissions. Got them a bit too high for about 5 minutes.

We have found that we were compromised and most likely it was a stolen password. Now it’s all cleared and Google appears to have taken off the warnings thanks to some red-eye work in asking them again to rescan. Google knew where the problem was, so it would have been helpful had they included that in the webmaster inquiry.

We are most grateful that whoever did not do any damage. Thank you. Only a password login holder could have made those changes we feel. We’d like to request NO ONE email or send passwords in an unencrypted fashion–we’ll be good to go. If a bad guy gets a commenters login, they can inject and mess up at least the Blog.

Thank you all for the cooperation.

We’re currently missing Genseric & Harumpty; they’re still getting the warning page.

I was able to edit my comment just above, but got a strange message…Safari not able to (do something) because of some “script,” and did I want to continue or stop…I clicked stop, and then the comment loaded to be edited.

I tested the edit function again, and didn’t get that message, but the comment took longer than comments used to to load, and my computer fan came on.

Here’s the message I get when I click edit:

    Slow Script

Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage “Technical Request |” (http://www.whitakeronline.org/blog/2012/02/16/technical-request/comment-page-1/#comment-54819). Do you want to stop running the script, or let it continue?

Speaking of technical requests has anyone fixed the spam filter yet? Is there any way to create a whitelist for regular contributors?

There are 8 posts currently awaiting moderation in the Replies section spam folder all of which were submitted to the ‘Where Did You Post the Mantra Today? thread. Four of these posts are by dungeoneer dated 2/15/2012 and three are by OldBlighty dated 2/12/2012 and 2/10/2012. I just tried to post into the same thread and all three of my posts ended up in the spam folder as well. I was able to edit them and move them out of the folder by marking them private but there is no way to publish them since only admin has that ability.

I’m done posting in SWARM until this gets fixed. SWARM information needs to go out immediately not a week or a month later. Usually by that time most of the information is no longer relevant for anyone who is working on a particular project.
