Not sure if this is new, or just web connection issues. If the Hosting company is having problems (and many are having SQL issues) or the site is too busy, etc., we’re stuck. I need to know if now “always” these computers are having problems – or just intermittantly.

I just found out that WOL has been on a “Dangerous URL” database for who knows how long. My new software would not let me near it. Had to spend lots of time getting it “whitelisted” and can not find out exactly who’s database it’s been put on…. I’ve not had that issue before.

LET ME KNOW if you EVER get that malware or BAD site denial by a browser. Get me ALL the error data and the name of the database if possible – who’s it is.

Half the plugins and WordPress have updated in the last 2 weeks, so there’s bound to be trouble.

Who else is getting weird stuff just lately??

Some public Wi-Fi spots have filters against “HATE” websites, so this one is completely blocked in those places. However, one library where I go will give me this error about half the time I click on a link from Whitaker Online, for example (QUOTE):

This website is blocked by your network operator.

If you feel you have received this message in error, please contact your network operator with the following information:

    URL:

    http://x.vindicosuite.com/click/fbfpc=1;v=5;m=3;l=401071;c=776283;b=3368032;dct=http%3A//www.whitakeronline.org/blog/topic/forum-tech-issues-to-keymasters/

(UNQUOTE) If I copy the link and then put it into my browser manually, then I can get through 100% of time.

In addition to that strangeness, if, at the same library, I go to another website that is blocked, LiveLeak.com for example, the message will be from the browser, saying that it cannot connect to the server. This makes it look as if Whitaker Online has been given a special, unique kind of blocked status…

    Best regards,

    J.P.O.

    J.P.O.,

There are a lot of reasons. I’m sure all have heard about the Google “Truth” standards. There are 1000s of “watch lists” that feed to browser and computer malware programs. Sites that had been hacked were never fully taken off the “do not surf to” lists. Gee wonder why that might be?

The ISPs are being mandated a lot of crap via big you-know-who in order to suppress info from sites that get active people.

There is a LOT of security on this site. It is already blocking certain “types” of access. If you use TOR on an IP set that is attack listed, you’ll not get far anywhere as those IPs are listed in Block lists.

I clicked on that link and tried various ways to access the suite and couldn’t get anywhere, so it’s router / firewall or malware listed.

If people get URLs that are used for getting OFF blacklists or malware lists, let me know by email so I can start the process to get off. That seldom works as I found on many ISPs that were blacklisted for things none of sites ever were involved with and never were hacked.

    Bogus crap as you infer.

    Thank you.

    @Electric

Only Not-Real usernames are locked out for a period of time. A person must know their Username and Password to get in. So be careful when you log in.

If they don’t know that, they need to contact me.

Only Usernames & Passwords… not email addresses. If they don’t know their password, then use the recovery steps. If they don’t know anything, then that tells us they aren’t Bugsers. Newbies need to contact me or one of the Bugsers who will contact me.

    “Sys. Op.”

Within the last week I have found my access to the website somewhat hindered by this message if I as much as load two windows at the same time:

“Your access to this site has been limited

Your access to this service has been temporarily limited. Please try again in a few minutes. (HTTP response code 503)

Reason: Exceeded the maximum global requests per minute for crawlers or humans.

Important note for site admins: If you are the administrator of this website note that your access has been limited because you broke one of the Wordfence firewall rules. The reason you access was limited is: “Exceeded the maximum global requests per minute for crawlers or humans.”.

Is there some way to allow opening of a couple windows at one time, while preventing abusers from draining the site’s resources with too many requests?

    Thank you.

New error message. Please address and fix this.

Thank you and with best regards,

Myself and two other bugsers I know of are getting blocked by that also. I’ve assumed it was triggered by IP address, since I can get on if I change my IP address. But apparently it’s not just IP, from what JP Outlook says.

    @JPOutlook and @Henry Davenport:

As you all know, this site has always taken massive traffic hits good and bad. For anyone to say Google doesn’t rank it is crap on Google’s part. This site has astronomical numbers of hits from all bots everywhere and spammers and garbage wp-login attacks. That is why we turned off self-registration.

There are 3 major types of security on this blog and one of them is set very aggressively for several types of hits (GET and HEAD are denied types–which hackers use). @JPO – the error you posted (thank you) is one I can change, but that means you were sitting and very rapidly calling for MANY pages per minute from the IP range you were logged in on. If you really did that, I will lower the threshold – but if you use an IP that bots/hackers/spammers also use – then that is why it over-ran the benchmark.

We adopted a new type of hit block that has ranges of IPs that hit this site massively. We changed how that is done now. If anyone sees a “blocked by Admin” message, you’ve been caught in a trap I’ve seen and blocked – only an Admin can unblock those.

Security has become a JOB on WordPress sites. And if they are not attended to on a daily basis, and a known threat hack is not patched immediately via updates, the site could go down in hours depending on what trojan made it through.

Keep emailing if you are locked out. ALL ADMINS can unlock. If they don’t know how: CONTACT ME.

There doesn’t appear to be a means on the site to register as a new user.

There is a button to Log In, but not to register. How do people go about setting up a new account? Is the lack of a ‘create new login’ function an oversight, or a deliberate omission for security reasons?

This message has been showing up after I click “Sumbit” recently…:

    Request Timeout

This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase ‘Connection Timeout’.

Yes, I’ve gotten that as well.

That is a TOO BUSY error. They have been all day trying to “repair” the SQL, so there is something still off.

People need to email me as soon as the site is down or people cannot log in.

NO OTHER ADMINS SHOULD BE UPDATING ANYTHING. UPDATE FAILURES REQUIRE COMPLETE SERVER LOGIN CAPABILITIES TO ACTUALLY REPAIR.

This isn’t to do with logging in “Sys. Op.” but the forum looks strange in some areas—this has happened in the last few weeks. There used to be more of a graphic user interface, but it’s now text and links without nearly as much G.U.I. which formerly made it easier to use. Pic. attached to show how it looks from the different browsers I’ve recently tried it on.

There was no pic – but several have looked and can’t see anything. One person said they were on the forum last week and it wasn’t looking right, but was okay the next time.

Laura will be checking to be sure the hosting tech took care of the wordpress memory situation – it all times out before stuff has a chance to load.

    Sys Op,

Also on this site, the reply content toolbar, the two search boxes on the bottom, etc. don’t pop up right away for about a minute when you go on to this site still and it’s been going on for more than 3 months now.

I came back to this thread when I saw the replies to it and the issue has disappeared, back to its better appearance thankfully.

Laura got the hosting company FINALLY to put the site onto the correct MEMORY available. I believe it was forever timing out on all loads due to half the memory available than the lowest required to run any wordpress installation.

Let me know if you have any 500 internal errors as well. That is usually a memory problem as well. We haven’t had any “old issues” I won’t put here for a long time.

    Thanks.

    @JPOutlook and all.

    If anyone gets this…
Your access to this service has been temporarily limited. Please try again in a few minutes. (HTTP response code 503)

It means you’re coming in on an ip address that has been deemed hacker/spammer network.

Please email me the ip address you’re using to get it cleared. Many eastern block and Chinese/Thai are blocked en masse.
We can fix a manual block.
