A Favor for Elizabeth

Posted by Bob on October 26th, 2005 under Comment Responses

As I said below, though she vehemently denies it, Elizabeth is Catholic because the Pope is a bachelor. I therefore took the initiative and wrote the Pope about this.

I said that I would like to set Elizabeth up for a date with His Holiness, but he if he is busy maybe he could fix her up with one of Cardinals.

The response to my letter from the Vatican Curia was something I can only describe as unfriendly.

Further, it was badly written. I found their use of the word “excommunication” tiresomely repetitious.

Don’t worry about it, Elizabeth. I hear that Russian Orthodoxy is a great alternative.

This should not make other readers of Bob’s Blog jealous.

I stand ready to do the same sort of thing for the rest of you.

I am still waiting to see if rough guy humor works on a lady such as Elizabeth. It seems that, so far, one fair lady ignores our favorite Uncle Bob. Has Bob met his match?

Never underestimate the power of a woman…

Elizabeth doesn’t bother to reply because she doesn’t take me any more seriously than I do.

Elizabeth has been ill. The creeping grunges of early
cold weather — antibiotics, nose spray, thin white
paper products that come in rectangular boxes. I’m
    feeling better. Finally.

I like being Catholic. Years later than I should
have, I’ve finally realized that I need to move to
a big city or up North and find me a good Catholic
man this coming spring. Not enough single ones
around here who are in the right age range.

Peter thinks that Elizabeth could move to the big city of Columbia and find herself a confirmed Malachite.

Thanks, Peter, but I’ve been to Columbia. I’ve lived in and
around Columbia a few times as a grown-up. I had
trouble finding red-blooded single heterosexual male
    Columbians interested in marriage.

In case it looks like I’m insulting Bob — we’re
too closely related for that kind of relationship.

Increasingly, I think you will find that single males in age range for marriage are increasingly rare. marriage, these days, is simply too risky legally. You may be alright, but the siterhood has made sure that all american women are painted with the same brush they are. They are miserable, and they don’t want you finding marital bliss either. Still, it’s probably for your own good, men being the oppressive patriarchal rapists they are.
