FRAMED!

Posted by Bob on August 29th, 2016 under Coaching Session

One very popular story has a wealthy woman who has just been taken by a Prime minister to see Parliament in session.

The punch lines are:

Woman: “It’s just a bunch of men expressing their opinions”.

And the PM’s classic response:

“Madam, Opinion rules the world.”

As a professional politico I am fascinated by religion. Religion is opinion. Religion is thousands of years of trying to formulate opinions and “selling” those opinions.

One Catholic in my class in Public Choice — a brand of economics — said that he would gladly trade a year of graduate study for half an hour if he could understand the cardinals when they are selecting a new pope.

This devout Catholic opined that cardinals at the highest level of decision making in the Church to which they have devoted their lives would make what we call “a political expert” look like a newborn drinking his first bit of milk. photo frame.png

So I am often surprised at how religious leaders — who only an idiot or a Mommy Professor would consider an amateur in politics — so often make the most obvious mistake of all in debate.

It is the same mistake pro-whites always seem to fall for:

Letting their enemies frame the question.

The main thing I have to teach you to practice is to avoid letting the other side frame the question so you are lost before you even start.

I will not let someone begin a discussion of the merits of Marxism until they have told me why every Marxist country has to build a wall and station thousands of armed men to keep people INSIDE.

Sane people do not DEBATE whether a prison is good or bad.

Except when the prison calls itself a “Workers’ Paradise”.

Cardinals and other high churchmen may or may not be what you call “correctly educated,” but there is no doubt anywhere that they are past experts in really practical politics.

So I am astonished at how these otherwise expert people get frame.

They let the fate of God’s existence rest on whether evolution is true or not.

Let’s reframe this into plain English, “Does God, who created the universe, also FIT INTO that universe?”

The same is true when the existence of God is said to be based on how well God FITS INTO history.

I have the usual awful time with faith, so I have no answers. But I can tell from a mile away that the theist has already lost by letting the question be framed the way he does.

We BUGSERS do not allow ourselves to be framed.

If you say that you lived in America because America is stolen property, I ask you to do what anybody with stolen property has to do: LEAVE THAT PROPERTY WITH THE POLICE.

If you let the others guy frame the question, you have lost before the argument begins.
