In response… Feel free to share this with others.

An Open Letter to Mrs. McCord:

Mrs. McCord, your desire to have a “thoughtful, heartfelt and respectful civil discussion abut differences in opinion,” it is not possible under current conditions.

No sane student would agree to have that conversation with you given your presently stated position on the nature of White Genocide in America. You had the opportunity to categorically repudiate genocide, and instead you chose to criminalize and stigmatize protected expression of free speech.

The IDS article in which you spoke about the “White Power graffiti,” accuses the activist of being a “perpetrator” of “hateful, hurtful speech.” Without greater clarification by yourself or the article’s author, your decision to label the phrase “#WhiteGenocide” as hate speech is irrational and arbitrary. Your choice of words reveals your intention to persecute and oppress any party which might accept your offer for discussion.

There is nothing brave about lodging complaints against unpopular speech, especially when the university administration is all too willing to reward such behavior, thanking certain individuals for “[having] the courage to act and report these things.” It takes bravery to make an unpopular expression of deeply felt convictions in spite of a hostile environment, an environment which you are promoting.

In your forthcoming campus wide address, you have the opportunity to make a brave choice. You can categorically repudiate genocide, including White Genocide in America and abroad, or you may take the beaten path.

    Please be brave.

Hmmm…  I always thought that violence was the first resort of a tyrant?  At any rate, it’s what happens when two parties want to argue but can’t find a way to talk about it.

I am expecting something in the paper next week, so I’ll keep everyone posted.  The police department has not yet released composite sketches or a media info pack, so that is probably the reason that nothing has happened.

This gives me lead time to paper the campus read-boards before students come back from spring break on Monday morning, and I’ve got a few more things planned.  Stay tuned…
