The New Bug

Posted by Bob on September 1st, 2007 under Bob

The old bug looked like a fat and happy insect in a bad mood. This one looks lean and hungry, like “yon Cassius.” He looks like he won’t lapse into niceness, but will keep stinging until the enemy is PAINFULLY DEAD.

I once had some creatures of whom this bug is eerily reminiscent teach me a painful lesson about the consequences of home invasion.

    That bug is you, Bob.

You notice he is out of the box.

He is also ornery and eager to sting.

Yellow jackets live in a hole in the ground and will give their lives to defend their people. They will sting and sting again until they are killed.

I thought of a yellow jacket as the bug for the following reason. Here’s a story.

I was mowing the lawn one day on my John Deer 111, when I rode over some dirt divers’ hole. One stuck himself on to my shirt and stung me again and again until I crushed him.

When I was done mowing, I was still so mad, I went after them with a shovel. I was pretty good at swatting them and not getting stung for several minutes. Then I was stung.

I kept swinging, they kept stinging.

    I was stung 23 times.

    They aim for the eyes.

“Fine”, I said to myself, “I always wanted to know what it felt like.”

So I came back at night, dumped a jug of kerosene down their hole and BURNED THEM ALL!

I stood and watched the flames flicker for a good hour.

    Man that felt good.

    Bob:

The new look is Brain’s work.

He put it into effect by himself. Without him it would not have been done.

    Three cheers for Brain.

Brain’s work with an incessantly unsatisfied cohort. Fast, determined, resourceful and motivated. Hot stuff these guys.

    🙂
