People love to recite Wise Sayings. But they seldom apply them to the real world.
“Follow the money” is pretty obvious, and when someone wants to impress you he can trace imaginary money through Swiss banks to financing Evil. He is fully convinced that a vice president who already has several hundred million dollars has no interest in power for its own sake, but just wants to make more for the oil company he partially owns.
They will Follow the Money around the world but never across the street. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of people have never made a dime anywhere but in supporting causes. Our president is one of them.
But the flow of money in this case never gets a word.
You can see it everywhere. You can see National Review replacing the World Communist threat with a World Arab Threat. You can see all the tens of thousands of people who made their livings as Friends of Peace, i.e., of the Communists, instantly transformed into Environmentalists.
But no one mentions it. They want to discuss the “frame of mind” that makes a person go from one cause to another.
In the real world, the people in the Save the Whales, if they had a job before, generally had a job saving something or, as Obama’s resume only says, “social activist.”
The Left doesn’t denounce common sense statements like this. It ignores them.
If you want to make a living as a respectable conservative, you follow the guidelines set down by the establishment media. As the first publisher of National Review for over thirty years, William Rusher said, “The staff of National Review doesn’t believe anything until it is published in the New York Times.”
So there are no articles about how people who are now middle aged and have never made a living outside of activism make a living.
But this is pure Follow the Money. If you read the articles, it is as if these people existed on air.
Which makes so much absolutely clear, in fact obvious, to me that which seems so strange for people who are looking for the Latest Conspiracy or the Big Excitement.
In 1994, the House of Representatives went Republicans for the first time in forty years, during which its leadership kept wisely saying, “The votes are in the middle of the road.”
In fact, the House had been controlled by the Democrats for all but four years since 1931.
Its Republicans leadership gave regular lectures on How to Win Elections by Being Moderate.
There were about fifteen thousand Democratic House employees, in Washington and in the District. About ten thousand lost their jobs.
Where did they go? Damned few went where the computer specialists went when that industry collapsed, to MacDonald’s or Wendy’s. They retired or got jobs in the same industry in the same city.
This is the only place you will hear those thousands mentioned as a political factor, because this is following the money across town rather than around the world.

Like the saga of media workers displaced by Internet. Some are trying the same old hackneyed stuff, even now. “T.V. and books will never die!” Or to wholesale-transfer old product to the new vessel. “It’s just content; the delivery platform is immaterial.” Or shifting ideology: “They’ll always need us for Content.” The media equivalent of “I used to be in whales.” (“I produce content. What do you need it to say?”)
The left is more visibly strident about vetting–wanting splashy Clinton marriages, sacrifice of firstborn, whatever, not just lip service, attacks. Campbell Brown marries into Orthodoxy, etc. Talking heads have more body guards than usual, and state it is for political reasons. Then the citizen- journalist emerged. Re-positioners are called out for it, the Brietbarts, explanations demanded.
It seems all very real-time.

It only takes one, one who questions. Within the last year I was at a convention where one of the talks given was by a young lib woman posing as one leg of the triangle for enviromental regulation, posing as a self sacrificing do gooder all around decent human being without any personal agenda, blah, blah blah.
Anyway to make this short, one man right off the bat asks, “Who funds your group?” Answer, “Not able to disclose that at this time.” Reaction, polite indefference to outright skepticism.
All the lib kiddie groups are this way. Take the site theoildrum.com funded by something called the American Society for the study of Peak Oil with chapters everywhere and fancy websites with full time mother hen liberal moderators to make sure “real science” like AGW is never questioned while the skeptics are shown the door.
There is alot of money out there for the taking.

I want to live in a world with a zero tolerance policy for Communism and Communists.
I despair when a drive through a plush suburban neighborhood and I see a splendid home flying an enormous American flag, when I know damn well that the owner of that home is an overpaid engineer of low accomplishment enjoying a fabulous retirement from some Federal contractor at the cost of the enslavement of the American people. He adds insult to injury by his pretense of patriotism and advocacy of “freedom” when in fact he nothing but a goddamned Communist and a proud member of the American Communist Party that he fancies as “Republican”.
Communists love American flags. I see another brand of Communist everyday insulting me with their flag emblems sewn on their BDU’s driving around in their over equipped cop cars thinking about the next negotiation of a pay increase by their equally overpaid lawyer public employee union negotiator and how they are going to threaten the local Commissioners if they don’t get what they want. Nobody ever mentions that the singular talent of American police (they are all unionized) is threatening elected officials. Threatening elected officials is what they excel at. Their second greatest accomplishment is inciting more crime and illegal immigration (which means more crime), crime being the thing they love most. (Helps with the budget negotiation, you know.)
Then I am insulted again when the Regional Secret Service head shows up with an American flag emblem pinned on his lapel to my local business chapter meeting to complain about how the Secret Service just doesn’t have adequate resources to go after the Mexican drug gangs in my community when he and his bastard organization are the very people preventing me from taking my gun and going after these Mexican invaders and usurpers myself!
We are surrounded by Communists, the most wretched human garbage on earth. They are literally everywhere, all pretending that aren’t what they in fact are: enemies of freedom, enemies of Americans, and traitors, pure and simple.
I don’t know how many times I retch when I see a Mexican illegal proudly wearing a baseball cap with an American flag on it. In my community this is what the Mexicans do, they fly American flags. They spend all of their time running around making displays of how “American” they are. I haven’t seen a Mexican flag flown in my community for years. Meanwhile, over 50% of the people living in my community are Mexican illegals.
That the Mexicans illegals make displays of patriotism and wear and fly American flags is PEFECTLY LOGICAL, as logical as your goddamned local public employee union member police officer wearing an American flag. They are all advocates of “freedom” while in fact they are doing everything they can to steal freedom and commit treason and incite subversion night and day, 24 x 7.
Meanwhile, the military of my country is busily engaged in fighting the most committed anti-Communists on earth, which also is PERFECTLY LOGICAL.

Realtors are funny, too. It might take great mastery of cognitive dissonance to grin and believe you are finding a dream home for members of a community. Or that growth in your area is disconnected from white flight (all races are affected by this, of course, although in different ways), or the new bunch of freshly minted H1B visas, or advantageous gun laws, or lost pensions causing horrified old people to cash out, and there you are, profiting on all that loss! But it’s only b/c people want dream homes and everything is growing so rapidly! You have never been so busy!
At any rate, they can PLACE PEOPLE— students, prisoners, actresses, whatever, and facilitate LOANS necessary to do so.
But: How could such an airhead, who was all about dream homes and decor, just yesterday, work so well in Sing-Sing?
Was it ex-Realtors who handled the Gulag Properties?
All the job books tell young people to look at the “cross-over skills” in the work. At “what translates.” But why are we “translating”—from what to what. Asking that will get one in big trouble, kicked under the table, that kind of thing.
