Wordism: Back to Basics

Posted by Bob on January 12th, 2005 under History, How Things Work, Musings about Life

In Latin America, one interesting phenomenon was the women in the Catholic Church who went up the church aisle on their knees.

For those of you who have taken time out from reading what Jehovists call the Bible to read the New Testament, there may be a problem with this. Jesus specifically denounced those who showed off their piety.

But I doubt these women have any problem.

One of my landladies down there was one of 22 children, so after she had five she had her tubes tied off and the priest banned her from the church. But she still had the candles burning all day as you went down the stairs and religious pictures everywhere.

But all of this is outside my sphere of judgement.

No, I do not feel that any of these people are in any way related to me. So, though I think I follow Christ, I have ceased to call myself a Christian. All the “Christians” want to dump their baggage on me.

They say I must accept the Wordism Jesus had, if He wanted to stay alive awhile, had to give lip service to. They think He could speak freely.

They’re morons. But they’re also loud, fanatical morons.

So it’s better to act like they’re not there, the way I act like Buddhists or Confuscianists are not there.

They are all the True Wordists. (From the May 15, 1999 WOL: Wordism)

Which means they’re all silly.

I have no feeling for any “conservative” who says race is unimportant. That is Wordism.

The Wordist is a person who denies all ties of blood. His greatest enemy is race. This was true of Lenin, this is true of the Pope, this is true of the Reverend Moon.

The Reverend Moon demands interracial marriages. He wants people to be united only by the Reverend Moon, the Second Christ, not by blood.

If a sterile priest waves his arms over a black and a Scandinavian, that is the True Religion.

Shaun Hannity said that if he sees a black and blond together all he sees is two Children of Christ. He also says that no Christian can say otherwise.

Marxists say precisely the same thing. Libertarians say the same thing. Only the Book unites them. Every shred of feeling and conscience has to lie between the covers of a book.

So who cares which Book it is?

This is all rather moot since you have no way of knowing what Jesus may or may not have said. If anyone ever even attempted to hold you to anything that “Jesus said,” the true high priest and top “Wordist” trump card would be played.

“There does not exist any “Word” that was not conceived and recorded by a mere human.”

There are no absolutes except as determined by each man of himself, for himself, to himself. Every man may do what is right in his own eyes as long as he can get away with it in the community he finds himself in. The last man standing, wins.

    We are to be pitied.

    We were pitied.

Of all the men on earth, Jesus was the only one who took full power and responsibility upon himself.

There was a book extant in the first century, “Sayings of Our Lord” which disappeared. But He did say, over and over, “That is not the point. The poor are not the point. Israel is not the point.”

And, to quote CS Lewis’ paraphrase, Jesus said over and over, “I am God or I am a madman.”

He was not a prophet like Mohammed. He was not a philosopher like Buddha. He was God or He was a madman.

“If two or more of you gather in my name, there will I be also.”

Whatever you want, ask it in my name, He said.

And He died on the cross for it.

I am only a redneck from Pontiac, South Carolina, but it strikes me that there is nothing subtle or mysterious about any of this.

Be good, call on Jesus and claim His sacrifice, and love the God He presented to us, not a vampire who feeds on human agony, but one who is goodness itself.

    Pitied?

    Not me.
