Two people have complained to me about the name “Peter” always showing up.

I am complaining about people complaining to ME about this.

I repeat, sigh, AGAIN that Kelso takes care of this sort of thing, and his number is STILL

    “Two people have complained to me about the name “Peter” always showing up.”

    I suspect that God, in His often humorous way, is trying to remind you of something, Bob:

    “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my CHURCH.”

    The kind of POWER you’re talking about is attainable only by a very few, and it comes from within. They don’t need you to find it. The rest of us need institutions.

    Jesus wasn’t the only one who understood this. That “ourselves and our Posterity” phrase you’re always quoting was originally only one part of a complete sentence, and that sentence had a punchline. It’s “do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Institutions, again.

    You can register and sign into WordPress 2.1 although I believe they have a better version of this at present. You will find the link below the archives at the right side of blog labled “Other” and is high lighted in red. Once you do this your problem is solved for the time being, you may still need to sign in once in awhile to get rid og that pesky Peter, it is a minor pain in the butt.

    I know I called him and maybe two other commenters here said they called him. Kelso told me they were working on it.

    Kelso has a lot of business on his hands so maybe we need to nag him some more?

    Since this has been brought up, a while back I wrote a detailed message to you suggesting ways that sorting through spam could be made easier for you. This was not a complaint, but a comment made out of concern for you. Yes Bob, I care about you. Should I have passed on those suggestions to Jamie? I did not think of it at the time, and I don’t know where the comment is. I can’t remember all that I wrote.

    Bob, there may be a better way around this. Friends of mine have unmoderated regular contributers to their blogs. For example, the comments posted by “Friend A” who uses the email address “friend_a@email.com” (or any regular email account) are automatically accepted by the system they have in place, while all other comments must still be moderated. I am not sure HOW they do this, but like you their blogs are powered by WordPress, so I suspect it may be a feature somewhere in your administrative section. This may present a problem, however, as new participants in your blog would not think that they must post “NOT SPAM NOT SPAM” for their comments to show up (as the regular contributers would no longer need to do so).

    As such, perhaps the answer would be simply to stop the automatic login of “Peter” on all computers viewing your blog. New contributers would need to register an account with WordPress before being able to post. Spammers (or rather their computers) would then have to go to the lengths of registering a WordPress account if they wanted to spam your blog, an action that would most probably violate the user agreement and therefore lead to their account being closed. I can understand if you didn’t want to use this method, though, as it could potentially lead to less comments being made by “unique” visitors to your site (ie. people who have never previously visited). I guess you would need to ask yourself how many such comments are usually received.

    In summation, there are three options:
    1) leave things the way they are, with you digging for comments and “NOT SPAM NOT SPAM” headings;
    2) unmoderate regular contributers to your blog, EXCEPT “Peter” (since “Peter” is always logged in, enabling spam to be posted under his name); and
    3) make people login using their own WordPress account if they want to post a comment.

    I hope this helps you in some way.
